St Bartholomew Statue Details:
This marble statue of Saint Bartholomew is 71 inches high. Saint Bartholomew is wearing a piece of cloth with natural and smooth folds, which naturally hangs from his neck and belly to the ground.
He is thin and skinless, with his ribs and blood vessels clearly visible. He has a serious expression, holding a dagger, a tool of martyrdom, in one hand and a gospel in the other.
The original St Bartholomew flayed statue is located in the south transept of Milan Cathedral. It was created by artist Marco de Agra in 1562. The bottom of the sculpture has “NON ME PRAXITELES SED MARC (US) FINXIT AGRATIS” to praise the artist’s exquisite and vivid carving craftsmanship.

Saint Bartholomew, also translated as Saint Nathanael, is one of the twelve disciples chosen by Jesus Christ himself.
According to church tradition, St. Bartholomew went to Armenia to preach in the 1st century AD. His preaching touched the local religious authority, and he died by being skinned and beheaded.
