About the Original Calligraphy Sculpture:
The original Arabic calligraphy sculpture is located on the Corniche in Doha, Qatar. British calligrapher Sabah Al-Bili was inspired by a poem by Qatar’s founding father, His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani.
The poem reads, “Among the many sultans, I stand alone; like an eagle soaring above the peaks.” The calligraphy in this sculpture is composed of individual Arabic letters and combined to form verses. This is the first sculpture dedicated to the poem of Qatar’s founding father and the first public sculpture of this scale in the Al-Bili region.
